Nightwatch (2010)
vacant shop, His Lordships Lane
Ōtautahi Christchurch
For this durational performance, I sat still in the window of a vacant shop wearing an antler-like head dress of 10 lit candles for four hours. I calmly surveyed the chaos of a Saturday night in pre-quake Christchurch. Seemingly goaded by my passive gaze, the increasingly drunk audience tried to encourage me to break my stillness, effectively reversing the role of audience and performer.
