Tether/Reel, 2014

to and fro

Artspace Aotearoa, Auckland

A durational performance which played on the relationships between institutional structures, artists and audiences. I was attached to the gallery wall by 6 flesh hooks, bisecting the space with my body and rope which I held taught by continuously leaning toward the wall facing me.

Interactive performance, nylon rope, steel hooks, hand crank.
Photography: Peter Jennings
Piercings: Snow Spirit
The audience could choose to turn the crank in order to reel me in or lengthen the rope and allow me to meet the other wall that I strained towards.
