The Social, 2012-14
The Social was a collective of artists engaged in a practice of interactive and site specific performances in Ōtautahi, New Zealand. The core of our practice had everything to do with critical public dialogue and setting up environments for social connections to take place within the urban centre of a post-quake city. We ran a programme of pop up performances, installations and sculptures within the central city between 2012-2017. It was begun by Gaby Montejo and Lucy Matthews with funding from the Christchurch City Council.
In 2017, we were part of Making Space at CoCA Toi Moroki, a group exhibition which showcased artist collectives from around the country. I administrated and produced our portion of the exhibition, which saw us creating a working studio and gallery within the gallery as well as a series of live performances over the duration of the exhibition.
